Plot

Brian catches his underage daughter Tiffany and her three friends Aday, Rain and Leah by a frat house, which he orders her not to go by and orders her to get in the car, in which she refuses and tells him she can walk home, because it's right around the corner. Brian forbids her from going near the frat house and reveals that he is sending her and her brother to their mom's house while he is out of town, much to her displeasure. Brian then spies on Tiffany's conversation with Jonathan, the frat president, on a tablet and noticing how sexual things seem to be getting.
Meanwhile, Madea and Aunt Bam are sitting outside of her home giving away candy to kids trick-or-treating while Bam is secretly stealing the children's candy until one kid (dressed as a cow, which Madea mocks the kid's mother for) notices her stealing his and an argument ensues. Brian calls Madea, out of options, to stay there and look after Tiffany to keep her away from the party which Joe and Hattie tag along for after Brian promises to pay Madea. Tiffany and her friend Aday, realizing that Madea and the others are there to watch them, decide to trick them into sleeping early by faking a story about how a man named Mr. Wilson who committed murders in their house and the only safe rooms are the bedrooms and she then convinces them by secretly hitting a remote control to turn the lights off in the house.
Tiffany and Aday sneak off to the party but Madea sees through the scheme after finding pillows placed under the blankets to look as if they are sleeping. Madea searches for Tiffany but her friends and Jonathan both lie to cover for her. Madea shuts the party down but is thrown out by the partygoers into the bushes and leaves defeated. However, one of the frat brothers discovers that Aday is underage and throws her out of the party which is then shut down again when Bam calls the police due to Tiffany being underage. The frat brothers realize that Madea and her friends are the ones behind it and decide to prank them back by scaring them, unaware that Aday has been hiding behind the outside staircase and overheard their entire plan.
Back at home, Tiffany still feigns that she was asleep the whole time and had been sleeping in her father's room. The brothers begin their pranks by scaring Hattie and Bam by posing as the ghost of Mr. Wilson (which Jonathan had learned from Tiffany earlier) and by one of the frat boys, Horse (Brock O'hurn) appearing as a clown in the house. Madea, Hattie and Bam drive away out of fear and leave Joe alone with the clown which he knocks out with his cane while he is smoking pot.
Madea's car breaks down up the road and the three are pursued by the rest of the frat and partygoers who are posing as zombies that chase them down. Madea goes into the church led by Aday's father and feigns interest in being saved, believing that the things she is seeing are punishment for her sins. Aday's father and Aday reveal to Madea that all of the things happening were pranks being played on them by the frat brothers as revenge for shutting down the party. Aday, her father, Hattie, Bam and Madea decide to prank the brothers back.
Brian is also called back into town to deal with Tiffany for sneaking off. It is clear Tiffany has zero respect for Brian as a parent due to him being a pushover and refusing to discipline his kids the same way he was raised by Joe. Madea, Hattie and Bam begin to pack Tiffany's clothes up in bags to throw her out of the house. This plan works and Tiffany and Brian lay their feelings out about Brian's wife cheating on him and him being a pushover. Brian, finally toughening up, participates in helping to throw her out and exclaims that she can either live there with him, abiding by his rules or go out on the street on her own. Tiffany apologizes to Brian and the women for her behavior and agrees to listen to her father's rules. Afterwards, the police return to Brian's house looking for Tiffany, revealing to her that her best friend, Aday has gone missing. They then take her with them and handcuff her.
The next day, the police knock on the door of the frat house and one of the brothers discovers the body of Aday with her throat slit in the basement. The brothers are arrested after the police find Aday's body and a bag of marijuana and they are all placed on a prison bus along with her and Aday's friends, Rain and Leah. A brawl breaks out on the bus with the prisoners, scaring everyone including Jonathan. Aday comes out of the house and everything is revealed to be a prank with Jonathan apologizing as well. Madea, much to her shock, learns that Brian called in actual police officers, one of which recognizes Madea. Madea, Jonathan and the rest of the frat brothers flee from the officers as the film ends.

Plot

Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) is an alcoholic who divorced her husband, Tom Watson (Justin Theroux), after catching him cheating on her with their real estate agent, Anna Boyd (Rebecca Ferguson). During their marriage, Rachel was prone to alcohol-induced blackouts during which she engaged in self-destructive behavior that she only later learned about from Tom, and to which she attributes the ending of their marriage, in addition to her being sterile.
Rachel shares an apartment with her friend Cathy (Laura Prepon) and spends her days commuting on a train, often stalking Tom, Anna, and their newborn daughter Evie. During her trips, Rachel grows fascinated with Tom's neighbors, Scott (Luke Evans) and Megan Hipwell (Haley Bennett), a young couple in what Rachel believes is a perfect marriage. In reality, Scott is aggressive and controlling, while Megan is detached and unfaithful, maintaining affairs with numerous men, including her psychiatrist, Dr. Kamal Abdic (Édgar Ramírez).
While passing by the neighborhood one day, Rachel spots Megan kissing Abdic on her balcony and becomes infuriated by what she perceives as Megan's ruining her "perfect" marriage. After a drinking binge, Rachel leaves the train to confront Megan, only to black out and awaken hours later at her apartment, injured. Rachel later finds out that Megan is missing and presumed dead, and is questioned by Detective Sergeant Riley (Allison Janney), who suspects Rachel might be involved due to her recent erratic behavior.
Rachel, pretending to be a friend of Megan's, approaches Scott and tells him about Megan's affair. Scott identifies Abdic as Megan's lover. Believing Abdic is behind Megan's disappearance, Rachel schedules an appointment with him, wherein they discuss Rachel's troubled relationship with Tom, particularly an incident in which she lashed out at an office party and aggravated Tom's boss's wife Martha (Lisa Kudrow), leading to Tom being fired.
At a bar, Rachel recognizes another commuter, who reveals that he followed her when she left the train the night that Megan disappeared and heard her cursing at a woman. The commuter later found Rachel unconscious in a tunnel, having been severely beaten by an unseen figure, but she aggressively declined his help. Rachel returns to the tunnel and recalls seeing Megan with Tom and shouting at her before being ambushed. Meanwhile, Anna becomes suspicious of Tom after Sgt. Riley suggests that he is encouraging Rachel's behavior by keeping in touch with her. Anna attempts to hack into Tom's computer and in the process, she finds a secret phone with several voice messages to another woman Tom is having an affair with, later verifying that the phone was Megan's.
Megan is found dead and forensics determine she was pregnant, but the child was neither Scott's nor Abdic's. Scott becomes a suspect and confronts Rachel, believing she is conspiring against him, and in the process reveals he assaulted Megan prior to her death. Rachel runs into Martha and apologizes for her behavior at the party, only to discover she didn't lash out or get Tom fired, but rather Tom was fired for having sexual relations with numerous co-workers. Rachel realizes Tom planted false memories in her head to account for his own abusive behavior.
Anna identifies the woman Tom was exchanging phone calls with as Megan, and finds out Tom and Megan were having an affair. Rachel realizes Megan was pregnant with Tom's baby and confided that to Abdic, leading to Rachel misinterpreting the nature of their encounter on the balcony. After leaving the train that day, Rachel caught Tom meeting with Megan and shouted at her, mistaking her for Anna. Tom then beat Rachel before returning to Megan, who announced she was keeping the baby. Realizing this would expose their affair, Tom murdered Megan.
Rachel goes to Tom's house to warn Anna, but Anna reveals that she already knows. Tom arrives and confronts them, and while he argues with Anna, Rachel steals a corkscrew and steps outside to call the police. Tom catches up to her and attempts to strangle her, as Anna watches from the window. Rachel stabs Tom in the neck with the corkscrew, but he is not dead yet. Anna then exits the house and pushes the corkscrew deeper into Tom's neck, finishing him off.
Rachel and Anna come to an understanding and separately confirm to the police that Rachel killed Tom in self-defense, after he revealed himself to be Megan's killer. One year later, Rachel has become sober and found a new job, and while still commuting on the same train, she now sits on the opposite side in a different car, leaving her old neighborhood in the past.

Plot

For years, Abraham "Abe" Portman (Terence Stamp) has told stories to his grandson, Jacob "Jake" Portman (Asa Butterfield) about his childhood spending part of World War II living at "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" by the coast of Wales. The home's residents and their headmistress, Miss Alma LeFay Peregrine (Eva Green), possess unique abilities and are known as "Peculiars". When Jake receives a frantic phone call from his grandfather; he and his drugstore coworker and Shelly (O-Lan Jones) rush to Abe's house. In the woods behind the house, Jake finds his grandfather and tells Jake to find "the bird, the loop and September 3, 1943" before dying.
Following the advice of his psychiatrist, Dr. Golan (Allison Janney), Jake and his father Franklin (Chris O'Dowd) travel to Wales. Jake explores the island and finds out the children's home was destroyed during a Luftwaffe raid. As he explores, some of the Peculiar Children from Abe's stories greet him.
The children take Jake to their house, where Miss Peregrine greets him. She explains that she belongs to a class of Peculiars named "Ymbrynes" who have the power to transform into birds (in Miss Peregrine's case, a peregrine falcon) and manipulate time which is known as a time loop. Miss Peregrine has her loop permanently set to September 3, 1943 in which she and her children hide from the outside world.
Jake is introduced to the rest of the children, including Emma Bloom (Ella Purnell), an aerokinetic girl lighter than air, and necromancer Enoch O'Connor (Finlay MacMillan) (who's jealous of Jake, and also was of Abe). He learns like Abe, he's also a Peculiar who have the power of seeing these monsters. Miss Peregrine explains that those monsters, named "Hollowgasts" (or "Hollows"), are former normal Peculiar humans who were transformed after performing a failed experiment. Led by shapeshifter Mr. Barron (Samuel L. Jackson), they hunt Peculiars (and sometime Non-Peculiars) and consume their eyeballs enough to became "Wights", visible normal Peculiar humans but with glowing milky-white eyes.
As Emma is walking Jake back to his own time through the cave, they find a wounded avocet bird named Miss Esmeralda Avocet (Judi Dench). Emma takes her to the children's home. Jake discovers a letter from Abe revealing that Mr. Barron is stalking a time loop at a seaside carnival at Blackpool, England in 2016 created by Miss Avocet. She reveals later to Miss Peregrine, Jake and the children that Barron raided her loop, killed her children and is trying to repeat his experiment with even more Ymbrynes.
Back in 2016, Jake realizes that a hollow might be close when a flock of sheep mysteriously dies. Jake goes to warn his friends that a Hollow is close. But, he's followed by another visitor on the island, an ornithologist named John Lemmon (Rupert Everett) who goes through the loop with him. The birdwatcher transforms himself into Dr. Golan and reveals that she is Mr. Barron. He tried to get from Abe information about Miss Peregrine’s loop, but his Hollow companion Mr. Malthus (the Hollow is supposedly on the island) knocked out Abe before he could answer. He posed as Dr. Golan and encouraged Jake to visit the island, hoping he would guide him to the loop. Taking Jake as a hostage, Barron forces Miss Peregrine to come with him and leaves the children, Jake and Miss Avocet.
Malthus arrives and kills Miss Avocet, but Jake and all the children escape just as the Luftwaffe raid destroys the house and kills Malthus (since he's from an earlier timeline from when he killed Abe, this erases Abe's death from the future). Without Miss Peregrine the loop closes, leaving the children and Jake in 1943. Jake and the children travel on a sunken cruiser to Blackpool to rescue Miss Peregrine. They use their abilities to fight and kill Barron's Hollow and Wight accomplices, accompanied by a skeleton army led by Enoch. Jake frees Miss Peregrine and the other captive Ymbrynes. Barron tries to pose as Jake to confuse the children, but when the last remaining Hollow arrives, Jake avoids the Hollow, which kills Barron, which is then in turn killed by Jake.
Jake says goodbye to the children and returns to the present world in Florida, relenting his adventures to Abe who is now alive and well. Abe gives him a map of time loops all over the world, so he can find his friends again.
